History Of Electronic Medical Records

In the 1960s, a physician named Lawrence L. Weed first described the concept of computerized or electronic medical records. Weed described a system to automate and reorganize patient medical records to enhance their utilization and thereby lead to improved patient care.

Weed's work formed the basis of the PROMIS project at the University of Vermont, a collaborative effort between physicians and information technology experts started in 1967 to develop an automated electronic medical record system. The project's objectives were to develop a system that would provide timely and sequential patient data to the physician, and enable the rapid collection of data for epidemiological studies, medical audits and business audits. The group's efforts led to the development of the problem-oriented medical record, or POMR. Also, in the 1960s, the Mayo Clinic began developing electronic medical record systems.

Health Check

In 1970, the POMR was used in a medical ward of the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont for the first time. At this time, touchscreen technology had been incorporated into data entry procedures. Over the next few years, drug information elements were added to the core program, allowing physicians to check for drug actions, dosages, side effects, allergies and interactions. At the same time, diagnostic and treatment plans for over 600 common medical problems were devised.

During the 1970s and 1980s, several electronic medical record systems were developed and further refined by various academic and research institutions. The Technicon system was hospital-based, and Harvard's COSTAR system had records for ambulatory care. The HELP system and Duke's 'The Medical Record' are examples of early in-patient care systems. Indiana's Regenstrief record was one of the earliest combined in-patient and outpatient systems.

With advancements in computer and diagnostic applications during the 1990s, electronic medical record systems became increasingly complex and more widely used by practices. In the 21st century, more and more practices are implementing electronic medical records.

How Body pH Can Affect Your Energy Levels

WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE; WE ARE BIO ELECTRICAL ENGINES

In order to accomplish all the many millions of complex functions that occur over the course of the day, your body has to be able to communicate with itself... all the way down to the cellular level. And do you know how it does this? Through pulses of electricity. That's right, electricity.

Health Check

Your body operates on an electro magnetic current. Believe it or not, all of the organs in your body emit these fields of electrical current. In fact, nerve signals are nothing more than electrical charges.

What creates this electrical power in your body is a very fine balance that exists in your bio chemistry. And of all the systems in your body that depend on this delicate, bio chemical balance, one of the most important is your blood stream. This is where pH comes into play. But what is pH?

WHAT PH IS AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO ALL YOUR BODY FUNCTIONS

PH is a scale that measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is. The scale ranges from 1 to 14 with 1 being very acid, 7 neutral and 14 very alkaline.

So what does pH have to do with you and your blood? Well, the pH of your blood is extremely important. The ideal pH level for your blood is right around 7.35 and your body goes to enormous lengths to maintain this level.

Why? Because if your blood pH were to vary 1 or 2 points in either direction, it would change the electrical chemistry in your body, there would be no electrical power and in short order you would drop dead. As you can see, maintaining the right pH level in your blood is pretty important!!

With this in mind a good way to avoid upsetting this delicate bio chemical balance would be to take a look at those things that can compromise the maintenance of the ideal pH level in your body. And what is the main culprit in this case? The answer is the creation of acid in your body.

Before we look at what causes acid, here's a graphic example to give you an idea of what can happen in the blood when your pH drops to less than ideal. Red blood cells are how oxygen is transported to all the cells in your body.

As red blood cells move into the tiny, little, capillaries, the space they have to move through gets pretty small. In fact, the diameter of the capillaries gets so small that the red blood cells sometimes have to pass through these capillaries one red blood cell at a time!

Because of this, and because it's important for the red blood cells to be able to flow easily and quickly through your body, they have a mechanism that allows them to remain separate from each other. This mechanism comes in the form of the outside of healthy red blood cells having a negative charge. This causes them to stay apart from each other, sort of like when you try to push the negative ends of two magnets together. They resist each other and stay apart.

Unfortunately, acid interferes with this very important mechanism in a pretty frightening way. Acid actually strips away the negative charge from red blood cells. The result is that your red blood cells then tend to clump together and not flow as easily. This makes it much more difficult for them to flow easily through the bloodstream.

But it also makes it harder for them to move freely through those small capillaries. This means less oxygen gets to your cells. Acid also weakens the red blood cells and they begin to die. And guess what they release into your system when they die? More acid.

I could describe a whole list of processes that occur when your system becomes and remains acid but I think you get the idea. The point is that aside from the acid that is secreted into your stomach to aid digestion, acid in your body is bad. Really bad.

In regard to producing energy in the body, here's an easy question for you. What do you think happens to a person's energy level if over time their system becomes more and more acid, their biochemical balance is disrupted and their red blood cells can't deliver oxygen and nutrients as efficiently to all their cells? The answer is simple. Their energy level drops. Dramatically.

Are you beginning to get the picture here as to the importance of pH in your body? Good. Now let's take a quick look at what causes acidity in your body and then look at steps you can take to get your body pH back to an ideal level.

WHAT CAUSES ACID IN THE BODY

The primary cause of an acidic condition in your body is from what you put in your mouth. In other words, what you eat and what you drink. And it isn't how "acid" something may seem when you eat or drink it. It has to do with what is left over when you digest it.

Specifically, does eating or drinking something leave behind an acid or alkaline "ash". For example, I don't know about you but I love seafood. Scallops are one of my favorites. However, when your body digests scallops, it leaves an extremely acid ash. In fact, scallops are one of the most acid foods you can eat.

Unfortunately, a lot of the things most people put in their mouths create an acid ash. These include alcohol, coffee and a lot of flesh protein in your diet. Interestingly enough, stress also tends to create an acid condition in the body.

STEPS YOU CAN IMMEDIATELY TAKE TO IMPROVE YOUR PH

Fortunately, it is pretty easy to immediately change your pH for the better and make it more alkaline. The first step is to understand which of the foods you are eating and the drinks you are drinking are acid and which are alkaline. Then it's simply a matter of eliminating some of the more acid foods you are eating and adding in more alkaline foods.

However, before you start, it's important to get a baseline of what the pH is in your body so that you can see how you are improving or if you need to continue to eliminate more acid foods and add in more alkaline ones.

You can do this by testing the pH of your saliva on a regular basis. This is really simple to do. More details on how to do this are provided on some web pages I have created for you to help you out. A link to these pages is provided below.

In addition to decreasing the amount of acid foods you eat and increasing the amount of alkaline foods you eat, one of the best ways to immediately begin changing your pH is to drink "green drinks". You can make these by simply adding a powder that is made up of a whole host of vegetables that are highly alkaline to a glass of water. Information on suggested green drink powders to use is included on pages that I have a link to below.

RESOURCES WHERE YOU CAN LEARN MORE

Clicking on the following link will take you to some pages I created that have more information on alkaline and acid foods, how to test your own pH and what to look for in green drinks.

Start taking the steps described above and you may very well find your energy levels increasing over time. Mine certainly have.

Free Criminal Background Check - Get Someone's Criminal History Free

Getting a free criminal background check is definitely something that is in high demand. With all of the current events pointing to relatives and close family friends as the culprit to some of the most violent and disgusting crimes, these types of reports are becoming common place in our society.

So, how do you get free police records?

Health Check

In order to get someones criminal history check completely free of charge one must understand the technology that they currently have at their disposal. Where is the first place that most people go for information on line usually? Yup, you guessed it, Google. The same holds true for trying to lookup public records. You will be surprised to know that most newspapers and courthouses publish certain information online. This type of information normally includes arrest records and criminal history logs. For instance, if a news paper has a section of the paper that includes a police and fire section usually they will have a list of arrests for any given week.

It is because of this that you can often times dig up relevant information online by simply searching for their name, phone number, or address. It is wise to search for the various terms in a number of ways including, with quotation marks, without quotation marks, and different variations that you can come up to. One thing to keep in mind that due to the sheer power of a tool like Google you are often going to have many thousand or hundreds of thousands of results to sift through. Because of this, it is not always possible to rely on this method unless you have plenty of free time. This is especially true when you are seeking to do a criminal lookup on a person with a common name.

Is There another way to access public records?

Yes, there certainly are other options to get to the bottom of someones criminal past. when someone gets arrested or convicted of a felony or a lessor charge, this information is often considered to be a matter of public record. Because of this, you may be able to gain access to someones arrest record by getting access to the courthouses public database.

In order to do this though, you will first have to make an initial visit to the court in whatever jurisdiction the person lives in or has lived in for a majority of their life and fill out an application for information. Often times the different courts might have a website where you can apply electronically however, most of them require that you do it in person. After you have filled out the proper paperwork it usually takes anywhere from twenty four to seventy two hours for them to either approve or deny your request. If you are approved you will then have the opportunity to visit the courthouse and gain a limited amount of access to the public records database.

Keep in mind that the information that you are presented with is usually not organized or sorted in any particular way and it could take you several days to get the police records that you are looking for. It is also worth mentioning that if the person that you are investigating has lived in more than one city or state that these steps could possibly have to be repeated several times over in order to get the records that you are looking for. The people that have the most amount of success with this method are the people that have disposable time or time that is not already dedicated to other projects. While time consuming, if used correctly with a little bit of patience success is possible.

What if the above methods do not get me the background check I need?

If the above methods fail to get you the free criminal background check that you are looking for it is possible that you have to explore other options. By other options I am referring to sites that are available online for all of us to use that maintain a database of most of the countries population and the crimes they have convicted along with relevant convictions. One thing about these types of sites that is important to note is that the results are instant. From the time you enter the website you are in possession of a criminal history report in under a few minutes. It is this feature alone that makes these services so attractive and convenient to the do it yourself investigator. The report includes a detailed criminal background report on the target of your investigation that includes information such as arrests, convictions, address report, phone report, social security number verification, known associates, bankruptcy information, marriage records, divorce records, and other information that might be pertinent to your investigation.

Ingrown Pubic Hair - Six Tips

Ingrown hairs are known as Psuedofolliculitis Barbae (PFB), razor bumps, razor burn, hair bumps, shaving bumps, ingrowns.

Psuedofolliculitis Barbae refers to hair which has been cut or broken off below the skin level which then begins to grow through surrounding tissue rather than out of the follicle.

Health Check

In other cases, it curls round and starts growing back into the skin causing irritation and inflammation.

If you shave the pubic area, you remove the tapered end, and as the it grows back without that tapered end, the sharpness will literally cut the skin surrounding the hair follicle.

Use these simple precautions to minimize the discomfort from ingrown pubic hairs:

#1

For ingrown pubic hairs along the bikini line, hold a hot compress against ingrown spots for ten minutes three times a day to soften the skin and help the hairs work their way out.

#2

Wear loose-fitting underwear and clothing until the bumps are gone to avoid friction.

#3

Some find it helpful to exfoliate the area before waxing. This removes some of the dead skin cells in the top layer of skin cells that often contribute to trapping the hairs.

Exfoliating options include creams, lotions, or body gels, a slightly abrasive washcloth or glove specifically designed for exfoliation. Check at the beauty counter at your local department store.

#4

Do not exfoliate the skin if you already have ingrown pubic hairs as further skin irritation may result.

#5

When waxing, be sure to pull the hair out by the roots. Do not allow the hair to break below the skin surface.

#6

Use a specially formulated treatment (see below). It prevents pubic ingrown hair and eliminates existing ingrown hair within days.

Additional note: For ingrown hairs which are deep, sterilize a pair of needle-nosed tweezers with rubbing alcohol and individually lift each ingrown hair out of its follicle. Wipe the area with alcohol afterwards and shave.

If needle-nosed tweezers are not available, wipe a pin or needle and the ingrown area with rubbing alcohol, then carefully release the hair in the direction that it grows using the tip of the needle only. After the hair is released, wipe the skin with alcohol again.m

How To Become A Pharmacist

Many students these days are pursuing a career in pharmacy. And I can't blame them. Some advantages of becoming a pharmacist are:

1) Starting salary can be anywhere from ,000 to 0,000 depending on location and need

Health Check

2) A pharmacist's work schedules are flexible. You can work 7 on and 7 off, work during the evenings or work the usual 9-5 job

3) You will come out with less debt compared to other health professional schools.

4) You can become a fully-fledge licensed pharmacist in your early 20s and do not have to complete a residency

5) You won't have to deal with blood

There are many other advantages to becoming a pharmacist. Above are just a handful of them.

Now, how can you become a pharmacist?

If you are in high school and are interested in pharmacy school, I recommend that you take a look at a few 0-6 years program schools. This program works this way. The high school student applies into this program. As long as the students get the minimum grade point average (GPA) and SAT scores they should be able to get into the program. An interview may be required at some schools, so please check with each individual school. After 2 years of pre-requisite coursework with high marks, the student then proceed into the pharmacy school, where they complete either 3 or 4 years of pharmacy school coursework. Once completed, the student can opt to a 1 year residency or could go out and practice pharmacy immediately.

The shortest 0-6 years program school is University of the Pacific's (UOP) School of Pharmacy located in Stockton, CA. They offer a program that is as short as 5 years.

Below are some schools that offer 0-6 year programs:

Albany College of Pharmacy, Duquesne University, Florida A & M University, Hampton University Massachusetts - Boston, Northeastern University, Ohio Northern University, Philadelphia, Rutgers University, St. John's University, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, University of Connecticut, University of Findlay, University of Missouri at Kansas City, University of Rhode Island, University of Texas at Austin, University of the Pacific and University of Pittsburgh

Now if you are a college student or non-traditional student, the road to becoming a pharmacist is similar to a high school student. Basically, you'll need to complete the pharmacy school requirements, take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT - if appropriate) and apply to the pharmacy school of your choice. There are many roadblocks that a student who are applying to pharmacy school may face. These questions include: How do I prepare myself to apply to pharmacy school? What should I major in? What extracurricular activities should I be involved in? Do I need to graduate with a bachelor's degree? Etc.

How To Get Into Pharmacy School ebook will show you how one student got into the pharmacy school of his choice within 4 short months after applying.

After graduating from pharmacy school, the student is now a fully-fledged pharmacist and only after becoming licensed, by taking the required test for the state the student is interested in practicing in, then he or she can begin working as a pharmacist.

As a pharmacist, you must renew your licensure every 2 years. This licensure process requires the pharmacist to take 30 units of Continuing Education (CE) classes either online or by signing up for a class. Other than this, the pharmacist can enjoy his or her career in the field of pharmacy.

Is Wireless Internet Technology Bad For Your Health?

What is WiFi?

It is possible to form a somewhat informed opinion on the safety or potential risks of this new technology without actually being a physicist yourself.

Health Check

Quite simply, Wi-Fi is the wireless technology most commonly used to connect people to the Internet in schools, coffee shops, hotels and other network locations, or to connect cell phone users to one another. Wi-Fi is certainly convenient for travelers and students, but is it dangerous? Many believe that the low-level electromagnetic waves that radiate from the wireless Internet source to each individual user can be harmful to your health, even causing cellular changes and possibly cancer in some cases.

The area covered by a WiFi Internet connection is known as a "hotspot"; this is the area in which the waves radiate to give users access to the world wide web. It can span several kilometers, although the waves cannot pass through treed areas. While in the hotspot, a laptop user can simply connect to the network, access the Internet, and check their Email or do their other business on the run.

A wireless network uses radio waves to send communications across a two-way network. A computer's wireless adapter translates the Internet connection data into a radio wave and sends it to the wireless router - the one in your laptop. This process works in reverse as well, sending a radio signal back to the host computer.

Hotspots Useful Stations or Environmental Hazards?

Some report an unusual sensitivity to the waves emitted in these hotspots. Officially, the levels of WiFi electromagnetic radiation emitted into the environment in a hotspot are well below recommended levels and there is no evidence of any risk to humans. Yet some people blame WiFi exposure for everything from sleep disturbances, headaches and blurred vision, to heart and breathing problems.

Because no study has ever shown a conclusive risk to human health from exposure to these low-frequency radio transmissions, many simply shrug off the complaints of these people, choosing to believe their symptoms are coincidental or caused by another source.

So just how high are the levels of radiation in a hotspot? According to Dr. Michael Clark of the HPA, the published research on mobile phones and wireless networks does not indicate a risk to human health. "All the expert reviews done here and abroad indicate that there is unlikely to be a health risk from wireless networks" he says. "The few studies on cellular phone masts that have appeared in peer-reviewed journals claiming to observe health effects are not at all conclusive. The real problem is deciding what level of precaution is appropriate.

"When we have conducted measurements in schools, typical exposures from wifi are around 20 millionths of the international guideline levels of exposure to radiation. As a comparison, a child on a mobile phone receives up to 50% of guideline levels. So a year sitting in a classroom near a wireless network is roughly equivalent to 20 minutes on a mobile. If wi-fi should be taken out of schools, then the mobile phone network should be shut down, too - and FM Radio and TV, as the strength of their signals is similar to that from wi-fi in classrooms."

Health Insurance Terms and Definitions

One of the biggest problems for most people is simply understanding the health insurance benefits that they have. For the most part, health insurance policies try to be user-friendly in their wording, but many people are just not familiar with medical and insurance terminology.

Most health insurance policies also provide something similar to a cheat sheet which gives the basic outline of policy coverage and covers the most common medical services. However, you need to be sure that you understand the different things that are excluded under your plan. Many health insurance plans provide limited benefits for services such as mental health, chiropractic services, and occupational health. Even physical therapy and home health care are often limited to a certain number of visits per year.

Health Check

Co-payment or Co-pay

A co-payment is a pre-determined amount that you must pay a medical provider for a particular type of service. For example, you may be required to pay a co-payment when you visit your doctor. In this instance, you must pay to the doctor's office at the time of the visit. Normally, you are not required to pay any additional fees -- your health insurance company will pay the rest. However, in some cases, if your health insurance policy specifies it, you may be responsible for a co-payment and then a percentage of the remaining balance.

Deductible

A deductible is the amount of your medical expenses you must pay for before the health insurance company will begin to pay benefits. Most health insurance plans have a calendar-year deductible which means that in January of every new year the deductible requirement starts over again. So, if your calendar year deductible is 00, as long as your medical expenses for the current year do not exceed 00 the insurance company pays nothing for that year. Once January of the new year starts, you have to begin again to pay for 00 of your own medical expenses.

Coinsurance

Coinsurance (or out-of-pocket expense) is the amount or percentage of each medical charge that you are required to pay. For example, you may have a 0 medical charge. Your health insurance company will pay 80% of the charge and you are responsible for the additional 20%. The 20% is your coinsurance amount.

Coinsurance accrues throughout the year. If you have a large number of medical charges in one year, you may meet the coinsurance maximum requirement for your policy. At that point, any covered charges will be paid at 100% for the remainder of the calendar year.

Stop loss or out-of-pocket expense limit

Sometimes you will hear the out-of-pocket expense limit referred to as your stop loss or coinsurance amount. Basically, this is the amount you will need to pay out of your own pocket per calendar year before the health insurance company pays everything at 100%.

You will need to check your policy because many policies that require co-payments do not allow these co-payments to go toward the out-of-pocket amount. For example, you may have reached your out-of-pocket maximum for the year, so if you are admitted to the hospital you may pay nothing. However, since you have to pay a co-payment every time you visit the doctor, you will still have to make this co-payment.

Lifetime maximum benefit

This is the maximum amount that the health insurance company will pay toward your medical expenses for the lifetime of your policy. Generally, this amount is in the millions of dollars. Unless you have a very severe condition, you will not likely exhaust this amount.

Preferred Provider Organization

A Preferred Provider Organization (also known as a PPO) is a group of participating medical providers who have agreed to work with the health insurance company at a discounted rate. It's a win-win situation for each side. The insurance company has to pay less money and the providers receive automatic referrals.

In most health insurance policies, you will see different benefit levels depending on whether you visit a participating or nonparticipating provider. A PPO plan provides more flexibility for the insured person because they can visit either a participating or nonparticipating provider. They just receive a better price if they use a participating one.

Health Maintenance Organization

A Health Maintenance Organization (also known as an HMO) is a health insurance plan which restricts you to only using specified medical providers. Generally, unless you are out of the area of their network, no benefits are payable if you go to a nonparticipating physician. Typically, you are required to select one main doctor who will be your Primary Care Physician (PCP). Any time you have a health problem, you must visit this doctor first. If they feel that you need it, they will refer you to another network provider. However, you cannot just decide on your own to visit a specialist; you must go through your PCP.

Medically necessary

You will see this term in all health insurance policies, and it is a frequent cause of denied claims. Most insurance companies will not cover any expenses that they do not consider medically necessary. Just because you and/or your doctor consider something medically necessary, your health insurance company may not. For this reason, you always need to verify that any costly procedures you are considering will be covered.

Routine treatment

Routine treatment is generally defined as preventive services. For example, a yearly physical examination that you have on a regular basis is generally considered to be routine. Many of the immunizations that children and adults receive fall under this classification. Some insurance companies provide limited coverage for routine treatment; others provide no benefits at all.

Pre-existing condition

A pre-existing condition is a condition that you acquired and/or received treatment for prior to the effective date of your current health insurance policy. Health insurance companies vary on how they treat pre-existing conditions. Some companies will not give you coverage at all if you have certain chronic pre-existing conditions. Others will give you coverage but will not provide any benefits for a period of time -- usually from 12-24 months. Still, other health insurance companies will specifically exclude a pre-existing condition from a policy and will never provide any benefits for that condition.

Be sure that you are very clear on the pre-existing limitations of your policy so that you are not unpleasantly surprised when you visit your doctor.

Explanation of Benefits

This is the form that the health insurance company sends you after they complete the handling of your claim. It details the bill they received and how they processed it. It is commonly called an EOB.

Coordination of Benefits

If you are eligible for benefits under more than one health insurance plan, your various health insurance companies will need to coordinate benefits. This insures that no more than 100% of the total charge is paid. There are many variations on how this situation can occur. In general, the primary company makes their payment first. Then you file a copy of the charges with the secondary company along with a copy of the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from the primary company. The secondary company usually picks up the remainder of the bill.

Participating provider

A participating provider is a medical provider who has signed a contract with a health insurance company or health insurance network to charge pre-determined rates to patients who are in the network.

Nonparticipating provider

A nonparticipating provider is a medical provider who does not have a contract with a particular health insurance company or network. If you use a nonparticipating provider, you will generally pay a larger portion of the bill. In some cases, you may be responsible for the entire bill.

Limited benefit plans

These are not considered to be comprehensive medical insurance plans. Instead, they provide very specific, limited benefits for different types of services. For example, they may provide a flat rate for each day you stay in the hospital or pay a limited amount for each surgical procedure that you have.

Typically, they are marketed toward people who cannot afford or are unable to obtain more comprehensive coverage due to pre-existing health conditions. Or, they may be geared toward people who have high-deductible plans. The good thing about these plans is that they generally pay in addition to any other coverage you may have. Therefore, no coordination of benefits is required.

If this is your only coverage, be aware that you will usually have to pay a large portion of any bill as these limited plans do not usually pay large amounts per day. For example, it may actually cost you 00 a day to stay in the hospital. If your limited benefit plan pays you 0 a day for each day you spend in the hospital, you will be personally responsible for the remaining 0 per day.

Medicare supplement plans

People who have Medicare often choose to purchase a Medicare supplement plan as Medicare does not usually cover medical charges in full. Medicare continues to change and add new options but, in general, a supplemental plan pays the balance of the medical charges after Medicare pays its portion. For example, most Medicare supplements will pick up the Medicare deductible.

Some policies also pay for some of the charges that Medicare may not cover. There are many different policy variations. If you are not sure what you are purchasing, consider contacting a broker that assists senior citizens.

Health Insurance Pays for Health Products

It's not often that you here of a health insurance plan that pays for health products, but that is the case for a woman in Minnesota. I'm not talking about prescription drugs that one needs for certain ailments, I'm talking about a health fitness plan the lady joined and her health insurance pays for health products.

The health fitness program that the woman joined is called the "Body by ViSalus Fitness Challenge." The challenge focuses on several different things such as losing weight, building lean muscle or just becoming more fitness focused among other things. The nutritional products that are offered through ViSalus contain nutrients including whey protein which is extremely good for the body and has no known side affects and can help prevent certain heart and liver diseases among other healthy benefits.

Health Check

The challenge and the products that Body by ViSalus offers work so good that an average of one thousand new people every day are joining the Body by ViSalus challenge. Famous actors/actresses and pro athletes have joined the challenge and other health and diet companies are recommending the Body by ViSalus products. If that wasn't a big enough endorsement itself, now there is at least one health insurance company that is paying for the health products that ViSalus offers.

HUGE NEWS!!! A Body by Vi Challenger from Minnesota has Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. They are now paying for her kit! They are saying it is a wellness product and put it under a weight lose program. She gets up to 0 a month for this from the plan she is on! Check with your insurance to see if they offer the same benefit.

I'm not sure if any other insurance companies are paying for these health products other than Blue Cross and Blue Shield right now. Blue Cross and Blue Shield obviously sees the ViSalus products as something that helps people become more healthy and fit and this is why they're paying for the health products. Once this catches on, I'm sure other insurance companies will follow suite and offer this benefit as well.

This is beneficial in so many ways. This can lead the way for people to become more health conscious by joining a fitness challenge and taking health products that have been proven to work and their insurance company pays for it. Any time health insurance pays for health products, that's a good thing for all.

Health Benefits of Nascent Iodine Tincture

In order to stay alive, the human body needs a constant intake of oxygen. In order to stay healthy and ward off all kind of diseases, our body needs iodine. There is a wide spectrum of maladies that are, and have been, successfully treated with iodine. Cancer patients, especially breast cancer patients, showed significant cancer improvement using iodine, and quite often its total remission.

It counter reacts against decrease in cell differentiation, which happens in cancerous tissues. It counter reacts adrenal hormones in the same fashion. Besides cancer, it is widely used in elimination of stubborn candida. What often happens, people suffering from candida, changing their life styles and diet into more alkaline, and with proper use of probiotics, seem to eliminate it. If these conditions are not perfectly maintained candida comes back, or it stays present in blood and internal tissues. In the case of constantly reoccurring systemic yeast infections, the only way to totally wipe it out is, by using iodine, because it has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungus properties.

Health Check

As it's been said before, our need for iodine is great, but majority of people don't realize it, untill it becomes obvious, like in extreme Goiter case when thyroid gland is size of a fist. Iodine primarily regulates thyroid gland and its hormones secretion. Thyroid gland regulates, among other glands, adrenal gland, which regulates blood sugar level. Blood sugar is of course, one of the culprits in body fat formation. To put it in so many words, if your body iodine is not sufficient, you will never, and I say again, never, get rid of your excess body fat.

Regardless all the exercises, all the intense workouts, weights or aerobic, it simply wont happen without it. It is body chemistry and there's nothing you can do about it but, to comply if you want to successes. It is also known in reversing male pattern baldness. It is essential in babies brain development and its lack leads to cretinism. As much as it melts fat around your bally, it melts fatty deposits in your arteries and greatly helps and improves all heart conditions.

It is very impotent, on how the body uses oxygen to convert blood glucose into ATP. It's nascent/magnascent iodine that is electro-magnetic charged, or active, that has the most success in treating these disorders and diseases. Although it is in molecular state, because of his open "cleavage", where each atom kept an electron from their covalent bond, is considered rather, as atom state with a charge.

Once upon a time, and I say this because it's been long time ago, it's been added to bread and salt. Today, your choices are pretty much limited to supplementation. Your best choice would be natural, 99.8 % pure nascent/magnascent iodine, which is in comparison with only available Lugol's solution ( chemical origin ), like comparing a Ferrari with a pick-up truck. Since there's a lot of bad people out there, trying to cut corners, and make huge profits in short amount of time, you want to make it absolutely sure, that your buying from trustworthy place.

To purchase nascent/magnascent iodine from highly reputable source click here now.

The Importance of Potassium for Good Health

Potassium is an electrolyte that is found in the intracellular fluid of our body. This electrolyte is essential for proper cellular functioning of the human body. Potassium deficiency results in several imbalances within the body that, in turn, affect the overall health significantly. In addition, some specific symptoms may also be seen when the potassium intake of your body is inadequate.

How does potassium help?

Health Check

Potassium regulates acid base levels and keeps blood pressure balanced. Metabolic functions also depend on potassium especially when carbohydrates or proteins are being broken down inside the body. The nervous system functions in a healthy manner and nerve impulses are transmitted properly when adequate potassium levels are maintained in the body. This electrolyte is also essential for the proper functioning of the human brain.

Muscle building is also dependent on potassium - so only when adequate amounts of this electrolyte are in the body does proper muscle growth take place. Body builders who need to grow and maintain muscles will do well to include potassium supplements as part of their diet.

For those who are trying to lose weight, a low potassium diet may be obstructing any progress they make through exercising. By bringing up potassium levels you improve body metabolism and aid muscle building. Improved metabolism helps the body burn more calories into energy. Enhanced muscle building draws on this energy to improve overall strength and burns more fat, thus resulting in weight loss.

Why do we become potassium deficient?

The potassium stored in our body is lost in many ways including perspiration. Excessive urination or vomiting also depletes potassium levels. Strenuous exercise without proper replenishment of fluids or proper intake of balanced nutrition can lead to potassium deficiency. Other than this, any excessive fluid discharge such as diarrhea, dehydration or sweating can also cause a drop in the level of this electrolyte. People suffering from conditions like Hyperthyroidism may also have low potassium levels.

Some common symptoms such as dry skin, muscular weakness, fatigue and apathy may be indications that your body is potassium deficient or hypokalemic. Severe deficiency may lead to heart problems or hypokalemic paralysis so paying immediate attention to any such signs is critical. It is important to understand that sodium intake may also be required in conjunction with potassium replenishment because the electrolyte functions with sodium to regulate several bodily functions.

Natural sources of potassium

There are many natural sources that are a rich source of potassium. A proper diet with the right kinds of fruits and vegetables often helps combat signs of potassium deficiency if the problem is detected early on. Chard, spinach and crimini mushrooms are considered to be the best natural sources of this essential electrolyte. Other than these, you can also find reasonably high potassium content in fennel, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, winter squash, tomatoes, cantaloupe and eggplants. Fruits like avocado, strawberries, bananas and apricots are also good sources. Non vegetarians can get their potassium intake from tuna, salmon, cod, flounder and halibut. Even dairy products are also good sources of potassium.

A Spiritual Check-up

Now is a great time for a self check-up. The new year is here and you have probably renewed your resolutions from last year. Why settle for failed resolutions again when you can have guaranteed results. The results I'm talking about are the ones that will take you to the next level of performance, promise and purpose.

Not another year of disappointment, defeat and disillusionment.

Health Check

This is not a physical or mental check-up, it is a check of your spiritual man to make sure that you are prospering eternally and externally in accordance to the promises and purpose of God.

Let's begin our spiritual check up by inspecting our fruit, this will be a major indicator of what is going great and where we need to change.

Then we'll look at how we can increase our efforts to get even better results throughout the year. Followed by identifying strategies to increase our fortitude, the inner strength we'll need to complete the journey we have before us.

God has assembled each of us here for his purpose and cause, in this specific time period and particular place. This cause is bigger than just your needs.

We should be sharing/sowing fruit daily, spurring each other towards love and good deeds. Some of our fruit are peace, love and forgiveness. The areas of life that we are responsible for sharing and showing others.

These are the tools that we have at our disposal to build bridges from us to other people so that God can come across.

If you harbor prejudice, hatred or have not forgiven someone then you are unable to bear fruit and you stand where you are today, because you have failed to fulfill your spiritual purpose and you should take a deeper look inside yourself, to determine why you are not progressing in this important area of life.

Having a brilliant career and a great personal life will seem unimportant if they are centered around emotional indulgence instead of spiritual progress.

How can one change their spiritual condition or situation?

First, let me warn you, that you can't reach any level of true spirituality without obeying the first tenet, which requires that you must be born again. Not just a mere spring cleaning but a rebuilding of the whole house.

Then it takes consistent and regular habits of prayer and meditation. I'm not talking about the habit that some have become accustomed too of pronouncing affirmations once or twice as if they were a magical incantation.

Could you practice on the piano occasionally and yet expect to be able to play well on any desired occasion?

To strengthen your spirit you need to build up a faithful daily habit of prayer and begin exercising a true love-consciousness, then the rest of the spiritual development will follow after that.

Some people pray only when they are in trouble or on their Sabbath and then, they find it hard to get any sort of meaningful results. Maybe you have heard the old adage, " little prayer, little power; much prayer, much power."

Sooner or later, through trouble or triumph, you will find the need to put God first in your life, but it must be the first thing. When this happens you will find that you have gotten rid of the mental junk that people try to carry around with them.

You'll spend less time pursuing material possessions and stuff, our artificial needs, things that don't really matter and only waste time and energy. Your life will become simpler and quieter, but spiritually richer and infinitely more worthwhile.

Cheap Health Insurance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Adults living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who can't afford to pay for health care may be eligible for coverage under a government sponsored plan. This plan is called adultBasic and if an individual meets certain criteria, they may qualify. For many people living in this city the adultBasic coverage simply isn't an option. For them, finding cheap health insurance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is imperative.

One of the determining factors in how much a person can expect to pay for health insurance has to do with their personal demands. Many of the low cost health insurance plans in Philadelphia require that the individual visit only certain doctors and hospitals. If you are dead set against this, you can expect to pay more for having a choice. If you rarely visit a doctor but want coverage in case of emergency, this type of low cost plan can work.

Health Check

If you rarely get prescription drugs consider not paying for this type of coverage. Prescription coverage is typically incredibly expensive and if you aren't on any regular medications it may not be something you require right now. The only real downside to not having the coverage in place is if you suddenly take ill and have to pay drug costs out of pocket. This can be incredibly expensive.

Another optional type of coverage is dental care. Although too many neglect their teeth, it is important to keep them healthy. If you know that you don't have any special dental issues and you are prudent about visiting the dentist at least once a year it may be financially smart to have limited or no dental coverage on your plan. If the cost of a check-up and cleaning is less than the yearly premiums for coverage, you need to weigh the pros and cons of the coverage to decide if it's worth it for you to purchase it.

Health and Wellness

The term health and wellness are frequently used interchangeably, but the meanings are slightly different from each other. Health can be defined as a state of our physical being, whether good or bad. Our state of health depends on various factors like heredity, environmental condition, choices of foods and drinks, fitness and exercises, sleep and rest, thoughts and our emotional state of mind. Wellness on the other hand is defined as the overall processes of maintaining a general state of good health, it entails the conscious decision of the person involved to experience wellness while health simply means persons condition.

Many food retailers, fast food joints, vitamins and nutritional supplements could see an increased demand in their products as a result of the trends in health and wellness. However many companies will be negatively affected by this trend, an example is the tobacco products manufacturers and fast food joints - but they have started modifying their strategies to suit customers' demands by introducing another brand of their products that can fit perfectly into the consumers needs and aspirations.

The driving factors behind the drifts in health and wellness were attributed to the rate at which obesity is increasing among the Americans 1990 - 2005. Benefits with Calcium on Breast Health - Are There Any Benefits with Calcium on Breast Health?

It has recently been discovered that calcium helps in the fight against breast cancer, and therefore, there are many benefits with calcium on breast health. Calcium and vitamin D both are required to decrease breast densities, consequently reducing the risk of breast cancer.

Women above the age of 40 are not only more likely to become victims of bone disease but also breast cancer. These diseases mainly occur due to nutrient deficiency, particularly calcium and magnesium deficiency. Benefits with calcium on breast health can be seen by consuming calcium supplements on a regular basis.

Health Check

Postmenopausal women require up to 1500 mg of calcium daily. With this amount, they should also consume adequate quantities of vitamin D to help in maximum absorption of calcium by the bloodstream. Studies have shown that women who eat a balanced diet with at least 1000 mg of calcium and more than 100 IU of vitamin D are at a reduced risk of developing breast cancer, osteoporosis, prolonged depression and PMS.

Calcium is important for maintaining overall health as it contributes to making the immune system strong. It is also required by many other systems of the body to carry out various activities including absorption of other nutrients and proper digestion of food.

If nutrients are not readily absorbed they are useless and are lost through urine. In order to obtain maximum benefits with calcium on breast health, a proper diet along with calcium supplements and regular exercise is necessary. Try to find good-quality calcium supplements available on the market. These supplements are effective and help in overcoming calcium deficiency and also serve to cure many serious complications.

Abnormally low as well as abnormally high levels of calcium in the blood are dangerous for health. Sometimes excess calcium deposits are formed in parts where it is not needed such as tissues in the breasts. This excessive calcium should be controlled by eating a diet composed of all important minerals and vitamins. Inactivity or hyperactivity of the parathyroid glands also causes calcium levels to shoot up.

Always use calcium supplements that have been approved by health specialists and doctors all over the world. If some side effects occur, immediately stop the course of calcium tablets and consult a doctor. Do not consume more than 2500 mg of calcium on a daily basis. Try to divide the dosage into many parts and make a habit of taking calcium tablets right after meals.

Popular MLM Themes - Health and Wellness

Health and wellness are two of the most popular themed MLM businesses these days. The latest trend is for people to be very interested and concerned with their health and well-being. While the huge population of baby boomers move towards their golden years there is an incredible surge in the demand for products to keep people young and healthy. The health and wellness themes lend themselves well to this type of marketing.

Health products that deal with a myriad of health problems are going to be in high demand. The same holds true for wellness products, products that help to keep the body free from disease. There are many products currently available with more coming onto the market every day. When evaluating a health product keep in mind the demand as well as the benefits. Research the amount of people that may potentially benefit from the product. If the product is too much of a niche item marketing will be harder and more expensive. If the product has more universal appeal it will be easier to market and sell.

Health Check

Look for breakthrough products that are new to the market. Do make sure that the products have been tested and that they do have proper approvals. If the product is unique make sure that it has a patent. Think about who will use the item and how much they will need. Remember that your business will thrive on repeat business so your product will need to be one that people will need more of.

The benefits of the products must show actual results so that the customers will continue to purchase it. Try the product yourself first, to evaluate it's claims. You want to sell a product you are comfortable with and believe in. Because many products are sold through word of mouth, be sure the product is one you are proud of and will be able to easily endorse. Be wary of wild or broad claims as to what the product can do. Check the reliability of the product via customer testimonials and comments.

Health and wellness products that utilize natural substances seem to be in peak demand now. There is a big push towards going green and using natural products is a big part of that push. You will see natural ingredients in all types of products ranging from health care to cosmetics. Check the company's claims before you buy in to be sure they are using the ingredients they say they are.

How To Get Cheaper Health Insurance

There has been a rise in the cost of medical treatment recently. Therefore, the demand, for cheaper health insurance plans, is increasing day by day. People want to have cheaper health insurance plans. However, these plans provide restricted services.

Cheaper health coverage plans involve the cost of doctors' visit, medicines, hospital stay and other medical costs. Some of the available health plans do not include the cost of doctors' visit and prescription. Therefore, individuals need to ensure that, they select the right policy that provides all the basic coverage.

Health Check

Family health plans are a low cost program. It is cheaper than an individual health insurance policy.

Steps To Get Low Cost Health Coverage:

A person has to follow a few necessary steps to achieve low cost health insurance plans. The first step is to compare the quotes given by different insurance companies. The Internet is the ultimate medium to shop for the best price.

Annual premium payments offer cheaper health coverage, as compared to the monthly premium option. Many insurers claim that monthly payment is more comfortable. However, a person has to pay more for this scheme. In this plan, processing of checks requires some transaction tax.

Monthly payment requires 12 transaction charges. An annual payment scheme involves only one check. Therefore, it requires only one transaction charge per annum. Certain administrative and service rates with monthly premiums increase the cost of this payment.

A person can never predict about their future health disasters. Therefore, it is always wise to buy cheap health insurance plans as a precaution. Age and health of a person, are the two important factors that determine the rate of medical plans.

The selection of group health plan is a long-term plan. It is a great choice if it is associated with an organization or club. A member of an organization gets affordable health insurance programs. Association group is another good selection. Different credit card firms offer association group policies, which are of low cost.

Private health coverage is an economical coverage option for some consumers. For example, a healthy 30-year-old male in Texas may pay only a month with a private policy. This is 0 per year less than what a national employee pays for an individual coverage.

However, a lot of time is required to shop for inexpensive private plans.

Check for state run programs that offer cheaper health insurance. Women and children have better odds of obtaining coverage. For example, in California, a pregnant woman making as much as ,000 per annum and still qualifies for free health care through the state insurer Medicare.

Conclusion:

More people are retiring before the age of 65. It is necessary to be 65 years of age to qualify for government health insurance (Medicare). Check with the former company if they provide health insurance for the retired people as a part of their retirement package.

Retired people probably have to pay higher premiums. However, it is cheaper than purchasing your own health insurance. To get a quote now see the resources below.

Health Tips During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the stage where a woman bears a child in her womb and has to take care of not only herself but also the baby within her. A woman's body can be very delicate during this stage and thus the people around her needs to know what she needs and have to avoid. Some, because of their lifestyle, those who are down because of poverty, sometimes forgets the things they need to do during those nine months. Here's a list of easy activities that doesn't need too much money but definitely important for pregnant woman.

- Medical Check Ups

Health Check

It is the most important for a pregnant woman to have her monthly check ups with an OB gynecologist. If not, "barangay" or city health centers offer free consultations. The gynecologist or the midwife/doctor will check you and your baby if you are in good conditions.

- Daily Vitamins

After a check up, the midwife will give the mother free vitamins for the baby's development and also for herself as her body undergoes changes for the child's growth. During pregnancy, women should always take in mind that she needs to be healthy in order for her child to be healthy as well. The right vitamins and supplements will always do the trick.

- Vaccines

While pregnant, women shouldn't take any sort of medicine unless prescribed by a doctor. Some of the drugs can affect the child's development mentally and physically. But there are vaccines such as Tetanus Toxoid as a preparation for giving birth. Infection might affect the mother or the child (like the Tetanus infection) during birth so just before that due date, the mother must have her complete shots of T. T. to protect herself and the baby. In case of wounds or any other complication, anti-tetanus serum e.g. elisa kits, etc. should also be given for faster protection. It also measures the mother's protective status and thus, determines the proper treatment.

- Exercise

It is always good for the body; exercise helps your immune system to get stronger and a lot fitter, adjusting to the change due to pregnancy. It also prevents a lot of swelling at some parts of the body.

- Diet

Food is one of the most important factors when a woman's pregnant. This is where she gets most of the nutrients and vitamins for her and her baby. Also, a balanced diet affects the nutrients that help the baby's formation and development.

- Stress/Depression

These are the factors that a pregnant woman must avoid. Depression and stress affects the child's mental development and might result into a complication after birth. It can also cause low blood pressure and might turn the mother unhealthy. As far as possible, a mother should be healthy not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.

Pregnancy can be risky but easy to handle with proper intelligence and information. Women should take care of themselves while pregnant for their child's development, it is important that a child should be born healthy and perfectly well. Though always at home, there should always be enough caution and preparation even inside the house. Parents should always be prepared for anything and keep things in handy. Just like first aid kits (also like Elisa Test Kit ), emergency hotlines, and anything that could be used in times of unexpected events. "Prevention is better than cure" is always a sensible quote to keep in mind.

Dog Health - Why Your Dog Needs an Annual Checkup

A once a year visit to the vet is a must for a healthy dog. During this annual visit your vet will check your dog's heart rate, overall body health, perform a fecal and blood check to diagnose parasites, and keep your dog up to date on vaccinations. A simple annual visit to the vet may not seem like a very important aspect to your dog's health, but it is.

Early diagnosis of diseases like cancer, early detection of any abnormalities like heart murmurs, and vaccines which prevent fatal diseases will all help your dog to live a longer life. Many cancers today, which dogs suffer from, are now treatable if they are diagnosed early, and dogs with heart problems can take medication to help their heart function well for many years. The key is 'early diagnosis', and without an annual veterinarian examination a life threatening illness could be missed until it is too late to treat.

Health Check

Identifying illnesses

An annual veterinarian check-up will also help your veterinarian to identify any illnesses in your dog such as ear infections, eye infections, parasitic infections, bladder infections, or teeth problems. Missed infections can cause wear and tear on a dog's body, and if they progress serious damage to the body can occur. While these conditions are not always life threatening, they can stress the overall health of your dog and overtime harm your dog's health, immune system, and organ function. Continual stress from constant infections, or severe infections that are not treated, can reduce the longevity of a dog's life.

As comprehensive as you choose

A visit to the veterinarian can be as comprehensive as you want it to be. You can have the choice of just a short physical and vaccines, or you can have all the necessary tests performed to check the status of your dog's health. In order for your dog to remain healthy, it is highly recommended that you have a comprehensive physical performed each year in addition to blood, fecal, and urine tests.

Don't forget parasite controlDeaths caused by parasites are probably one of the most preventable causes of death in dogs. A high parasite load of worms and fleas can lead to malnutrition, reduced immune function, anemia, and poor health; the damage that these parasites can cause may reduce the longevity of a dog's lifespan overtime. In addition, parasites such as ticks and mosquitoes can transmit deadly diseases. The parasites that you will need to protect your dog from include: ticks, fleas, worms, and mosquitoes.

Mosquitos and Heartworms

Many pet owners do not realize that mosquitoes can infect dogs with deadly heartworms. When a mosquito bites a dog that carries heartworms the mosquito can then transmit those worms to another dog. More and more heartworm infections are a leading cause of early death in dogs throughout the states.

Heartworm disease can be treated in dogs, but the treatments are not without risks; some dogs have deadly reactions to heartworm treatment. In addition, a heartworm infection that has continued for a long period of time may have caused too much damage to the dog's health to treat. To protect your dog from the dangers of heartworms, always have a yearly test performed on your dog and keep your dog on a strict heartworm preventative regimen.

While tick diseases in some areas are rare, dogs that are exposed to ticks are still in danger of becoming infected with potentially lethal tick diseases. If you are in an area where your dog will be exposed to ticks, or you live in an area that has reported tick disease occurrences in dogs and people, it is essential that you keep ticks off of your dogs. There are products on the market today that will help to repel ticks from your dog, or that will kill the ticks once the ticks latch on to your dog's skin.

Drinking Your Way to Good Health - The Health Benefits of Beer

If you read the newspapers, you probably see a lot of stories about the health problems that the country is facing. You see headlines of people suffering from heart attacks, cancer, and other illnesses, but you may not have heard an easy (and delicious) solution to some of these headlines - beer.

Remember, that you should definitely consume all alcoholic beverages in moderation, and if you have any questions about whether this will benefit your health, you should talk to your doctor. Ok, we've told you the legal disclaimer, let's get down to the facts and the research that show that beer, consumed in moderation, can actually help your health.

Health Check

So how can beer help you to keep you healthy? Well, studies have found that it can actually be good for your heart, just like wine. If you are worried about your heart health, you should obviously exercise and eat right, but drinking two beers a day for men (and one for women), may give some people an extra boost. Remember, the advice is one to two beers a day, so drinking three or four beers a day won't triple or quadruple these effects of the beer.

What exactly can beer do to help your heart? Well, according to a study done by Tufts University, the consumption of beer in moderate amounts can decrease your cholesterol level, reduce the amount of fibrinogen in your blood (which is a protein that is responsible for blood clotting), and increase the level of antioxidants in your body.

Are all beers created equally? Not really, because although you can get health benefits from all beers, dark beers are actually better for your health than lighter colored beers. Dark beer contains more flavonoids than light beer. Flavonoids come from plants, and are also found in chocolate and red wine. What are the benefits of flavonoids? Flavonoids have been proven to prevent cancer and promote a healthy heart. Sure, you can find flavonoids in other foods, such as fruits and vegetables, but they are also present in high numbers in dark beer.

If heart disease runs in your family, you may want to listen to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, which found in their research that drinking a moderate amount of beer daily can decrease your risk of coronary disease by about 30-40%. This is a great study to show your wife when she complains about you drinking a beer or two every evening. You can just reply with "Sorry honey. I'm doing it for us, not for me."

No longer do beer drinkers have to switch to wine if they want to get the health benefits of alcohol, because now they can get them from their favorite beverage. Of course, if you want more information about the effects of beer on your health, you should definitely consult your physician. Beer drinking can be dangerous for people who have certain health conditions or who take some medications. If you are already a casual beer drinker, you don't have to give it up to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

8 Insider Tips on Buying Individual Health Insurance

THE TOP INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY WOULD BE ONE THAT YOU NEVER USED. However, you have to purchase health insurance BEFORE your need it..

1.TIP #1 Having some individual health insurance is better than none at all. Suddenly overcome by an unexpected medical condition can ruin your financial security and environmental living standards. With no rehabilitation benefits, you could lose your job. Then you might have to sell everything valuable you worked hard for. Weakening, frail health may allow meeting the stringent Social Security Disability requirements. Never ever chance it, and never rely on the government.

Health Check

2. TIP #2 All individual health insurance policies are not created equally. If you are in the same financial position similar to many neighbors, paying deeply for coverage may not be achievable. Don't despair, see how much lower your premiums will be if you opt for a major medical plan with a ,000, ,500, or even ,000 deductible. Next look at your car insurance and home owner policies and get higher deductibles on them. If you encounter no mishaps, you had protection made possible by structuring higher deductibles into your insurance plans.

3. TIP #3 All individual health insurance policies are not Major Medical plans. Some are hospital plans with stripped benefits or are ridiculous outlandish hospital indemnity plans. Always try to purchase Major Medical insurance. Most Major Medical plans pay up to at least ,000,000 in lifetime benefits. Recently I had neck-spinal fusion surgery, forcing 4 days of hospitalization. Total expenses exceeded ,000. A regular hospital plan probably leaving ,000 unpaid could be expected. The idiotic purchase of a hospital indemnity plan would have paid specified amount per day in the hospital. Having a hospital indemnity plan paying 0 daily, it would have paid out ,000 total.

4. TIP #4 Evaluate your age and see if you need maternity benefits covered. A problem newborn can easily accumulate 0,000 in advanced medical care. Therefore a plan with maternity benefits can shoot up costs. When checking rates, see if the insurer has one rate for all ages, male or female. Some individual health plans base your rates on age, with females getting lower rates at certain ages, and males getting gouged at higher rate bands. Overall, buy the best policy you can afford to keep.

5. TIP #5 Do not inquire about health insurance until you have fully evaluated your present and past medical conditions. An Individual Health Insurance Company may elect not to cover your conditions, plus raise up normal premiums. If you have serious health conditions you might try to see if Blue Cross will insure you (without 180 days of coverage for pre-existing conditions). If you operate a business out of your home, or are an independent contractor, or self employed with a registered name you have one lucky star. Check your local Chamber of Commerce whose many benefits may include eligibility on their large group plan. A unique way to get large group coverage for 1 person,

6. TIP #6 Check out the HMO, health maintenance organizations and PPO, Preferred Provider Organizations. Remember though that an HMO is like your mother saying NO or beg me first. It doesn't take long until you feel like a number, not a patient. Good luck getting a referral approved, either though your doctor insists on it. Plus you select your doctor from their list and only use a certain hospital when necessary. A PPO offers more flexibility of course at a higher price.

7. TIP #7 This one is easy to become a scam victim of. A virtually unknown insurance company enters your area, aggressively fighting for you to sign up. The rate is below all others, and benefits are comparable. The first 3 years the company signs up thousands and thousands of individuals in good health and pays little out in claims. Suddenly people like you have major health problems and start submitting claims. The insurance company doubles their rates. Most of the people in good health go elsewhere, but you are stuck.. The insurance company may again double rates, hack off benefits, cancel policies, or sell out to another carrier. Quicksand where you can't be rescued!

8. TIP #6 Don't have a heart attack if you are left with thousands of dollars in medical expenses. Most hospitals and doctors have already built in a price margin to cover some costs of those who can't pay the entire bill now. Keep you mouth shut, and you hands away from the phone until you bill goes to a collection agency. Remember, these bully meanies do not get a dime unless you pay. Don't give into threats! After 6 weeks of receiving pestering calls, make your move. If you have a 0 bill, offer to pay 0 in 5 days, many collectors jump to settle on this lower amount. Should you have a long range problem go right to the top claims administrator. Offering to pay 0 a month will earn you 6 years to pay off a ,000 bill, plus keep your credit.

Health Insurance Contracts - Convenient Claims

Have you ever wondered why some doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers can automatically file claims for you while others you must pay out of pocket or file cumbersome claim forms to get the bill paid? This is the result of health insurance contracts. Healthcare providers contract with certain health insurance companies and agree to accept a discounted fee in exchange for automatic billing and reimbursements. These contracts, often referred to as payer contracts, also include other terms in order for a physician or clinic to become part of a particular health insurance provider's network of physicians.

These payer medical insurance contracts can be quite beneficial to physicians and other healthcare providers. In exchange for accepting a discounted rate, medical professionals and practices gain access to each insurance company's participants. They also benefit by way of a more guaranteed payment system known as assignment of claim. Rather than billing the balance of medical treatment costs to the patient and waiting for payment, invoices for services provided are submitted directly to the insurance company and paid directly to the doctor. This reduces the risk that a patient will file a reimbursement claim with their health insurance, yet not pay the doctor's invoice in full.

Health Check

Medical insurance contracts with multiple managed care companies ensures a physician or other medical professional can accept patients from numerous networks, all with a reduced risk of collection accounts for patients who elect not to pay their bills. More secured revenues help a medical practice increase their revenues, even though they are getting paid less in terms of per visit charges. For many practitioners, this guaranteed payment is worth far more than getting top dollar for their services. For patients, this system also assists them with out of pocket expenses and time spent waiting for reimbursements.

Whether your physician files your insurance claims automatically or you file claim yourself can determine how much you must pay at the time of your treatment. For example, if your doctor has health insurance contracts with your insurance provider, you may only have to write a check for your co-pay. However, if your doctor does not have a payer contract with your particular insurance provider, you will often have to pay the entire bill at the time of your appointment, then request reimbursement from your insurer. Naturally, you must pay your required deductible before your insurance company pays out on any claim, no matter if your doctor has a payer contract in place or not. If you need assistance in locating particular coverages at a pre-determined price, we can help save 50% on health insurance.

Common Havanese Health Problems - Keeping Your New Havanese Puppy Healthy And Happy

You are serious about learning more about how to care for the Havanese puppy you wish to purchase. It may have been many years since a dog has been in your home, or perhaps this will be the first do you have ever owned, or perhaps you have never spent much time with small breeds. What questions will you want to ask your Havanese breeder before you commit to the purchase of a particular animal? What simple, regular routines will you undertake to ensure your Havense's continued good health? What are the signs of health problems in any dog? What are the signs of particular Havanese health problems?

Do you know what you would do if needed to arrange emergency care for your Havanese? What should you do if your Havanese suffers an injury such as a broken bone? Do you know how to talk to your veterinarian about the injury?

Health Check

Havanese' tend to be long-lived and very healthy. However, you should know about common Havanese health problems that might affect your dog. Since all Havanese in the United States can trace their ancestry to one of eleven animals, genetic Havanese health problems can arise. Havanese' are prone to displacement of leg bones (luxating patellas), genetic deafness, and eye problems. The problems are relatively rare and not fatal. Some of the leg problems with the Havanese can be corrected for surgery, but this will render the dog ineligible to compete in shows.

Luckily, Havanese breeders regularly test their stock of sires, dams and puppies for these disorders. The Havanese Club of America recommends breeders perform annual examinations of eyes, knees and hips, and hearing for their dogs. Eye test results are registered with Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF) and knee and hip tests with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). An honest breeder should be able to provide you with the results concerning your Havanese.

You are the first line of defense against Havanese health problems. You should keep an eye on your Havanese and notice any changes in behavior or appearance. An animal that is usually lively and playful who becomes dull and listless may be unwell. A loss of appetite or weight may also signal illness. Regularly check your Havanese's coat for fleas and ticks. A mass under the skin may be a sign of an abscessed wound and should receive prompt veterinary care.

Keep your veterinarian's phone number readily available in case you need to arrange emergency care for your Havanese. If you need to transport your Havanese to the veterinarian, be sure to do the following. Muzzle the animal, because injured animals may bite even their owners. If you suspect a limb is broken, wrap the limb in a towel and loosely tape it. Do not splint the limb. You can lift small dogs directly under their belly. For small dogs with a suspected neck, back or hip injury, lift the dog on a board. Lift large dogs on a board.
